"drEA[EE]m brEA[E]sts"..... drem breests?.... :)

Calling a new English ortografy system "phonics" adds to the embarrassment that is
English spelling.
Contemporary English has one of the LEAST phonetic spelling systems ever!
:)
Paradoxically, English spellings were of course in origin based on phonetic spellings.
More importantly FOR EXAMPLE Anglo-Saxon/Old English when written/scribed
had very, very  logical and phonetic spelling....

I personally would seriously advocate some kind of free spelling as a possible way forward
/way out. :)
After all, English had totally free spelling until the 1700s or 1800s....and certainly in the Renaissance period.
